Confident of a bountiful harvest

"He who sows bountifully will reap bountifully."

"He who sows bountifully will reap bountifully."
Deacon John Ruscheinsky
In one of St. Paul's letters to the Corinthians we hear these words "he who sows bountifully will reap bountifully." All who believe in Jesus are charged to share their faith with others. Let us sow these seeds bountifully and widely, freely and frequently - in casual conversations at work or with neighbors and family. Let's do so confident of a bountiful harvest! In today's first reading this is confirmed. Elijah was thought of as having epitomized the prophetic office in Israel. A prophet was the representative of God, one who spoke and acted in His name. For a great period of time God dealt with His people primarily through them. Our heavenly Father is of course, free to act in any way He chooses, and in our own day, for the most part He calls every one of us to participate in this communication of His truth and love. As we pray today in the Responsorial Psalm: Let our hearts take comfort, for all who hope in God. How great is His goodness, for our heavenly Father is a lavish giver!
Points to Pray and Ponder: We are all called to share our faith with others as Christians! And I believe most people give of themselves to help in our community and for our loved ones. We do this because of the love and faith we have in our Heavenly Father. We do not need an audience. The only thing that matters is what God knows about us
