St. Paul's entire life can be explained in terms of one experience - his meeting with Jesus on the road to Damascus.
PRAISE THE LORD ALL NATIONS
Deacon John Ruscheinsky

"O God, who taught the whole world through the preaching of the blessed Apostle Paul." (Collect for today).

St. Paul was a tireless Apostle both in his work as a preacher and in his personal living out of the Gospel he preached. His conversion is one of the most dramatic moments in religious history. It is even now so sudden, intense and mysterious, and fruitful for us the Church. St. Paul's entire life can be explained in terms of one experience - his meeting with Jesus on the road to Damascus.

What a conversion story this is. Like Paul, for most of us the word "conversion" is connected to some extraordinary experience that changed our lives. Baptism initially places us on a lifetime journey of conversions. Every time we recognize the presence of racism in our lives and try to eliminate it, we are converting. Every time we catch ourselves promoting sexism, we are converting. When we forgive another unconditionally, we are converting. This brings peace and joy into life!

When we have a conversion in our life and the scales fall from our eyes, we like Paul strive with enthusiasm. For Paul said to the Thessalonians, "For our Gospel did not come to you in word alone, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with much conviction."

Points To Pray and Ponder. Jesus' last words to his disciples point to His saving mission and to the mission of the Apostles. Their mission was to be witnesses of His saving death and His glorious resurrection and to proclaim the good news of salvation to all the world. This is the great commission which the risen Christ gives to the whole church. May we ask the "Spirit who helped Paul... to preach, fill us with the light of faith, so that we may follow him in bearing witness to... truth."

Go out to all the world and tell the Good News.
