How important true relationships are to each one of us. They help us on our own personal journeys and brings much need comfort at the right time.

SUSTAINED FAITH THROUGH FRIENDSHIP
Deacon John Ruscheinsky

What a warm, gracious, pastoral, encouraging, grateful message from the bishop to a fellow bishop! A similar letter addressed to Titus exists in the scriptural canon. It is a fervent call to renewal of faith, love, and spirit. Most of the apostles and ministers in the beginning of the Church endure opposition and undergo persecution as a result of their testimony to our God. Timothy is called upon to bear his share of hardship for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. "Sharing the burden" is held out as a virtue for the entire Christian community. "Bear one another's burdens," that we may fulfill the law of Christ Jesus. In bearing a share of the hardship of the Gospel it's "with the strength that comes from God Our Father," so we all can rely on the same power of the Holy Spirit.

Sharing the burden - truly we all need a little help from our friends! When St. Paul in his letters testify to this it is especially about his fellow missionaries, SS Timothy and Titus. Of Titus we know that his friendship with St. Paul was so deep that Paul's imprisonment was eased by Titus' comfort. How important true relationships are to each one of us. They help us on our own personal journeys and brings much need comfort at the right time.

Points to Pray and Ponder. How lovely if, after a saint's name, one might read not only bishop, apostle, or martyr but also friend.
